Provisional Proposals Presented at the Highways Meeting Feb 2024

Please note the following proposals are provisional, subject to a safety audit arranged by BANES.

General overview.

It was highlighted that for the priority narrowing options only one of the priority narrowing options could go ahead due to budget constraints, either inset 1 option 1 or inset 2 option 2. It was indicated that all the other options for review could all be included within the budget available.

Insets 1 and 2: It was indicated by a majority of those at the meeting that inset 2 option 2 was the preferred option.

Insert 4 – Virtual footpath, it was noted that the majority of members of public at the meeting supported this proposal:

Insert 3B: It was indicated by a poll at the highways meeting that the majority preference was for double yellow lines on one side of the road against the triangle

Inset 3A, bus stop cage – this option was rejected by majority who indicated a preference for having double yellow lines on one side of the road only.

Inset 5 – roundabout. It was indicated by a majority vote of those at the meeting that the roundabout should go ahead

General comments: It was noted that the proposals would not reduce the availability of parking on the road other than two spaces on the triangle where the double yellow lines would be placed.
