Subject: WHPC Report for 11/12/23
West Hartpree Parish Council Report
Dave Wood, 10/12/23
My apologies for the Monday meeting in December. There is a key budget meeting that evening that I cannot miss. My new Deputy Leader role puts me as one of the three Cabinet Members most closely involved with the budget process.
Crown Pub and ACV
I provided a statement of support for this application that was granted this month.
Defective Drains between Fairash and Blue Bowl
This was raised at the last meeting. System jetted 17 November, operational on completion, flooding appears to be resolved but will monitor.
Speeding designs
Awaiting feedback on turnaround of these. With my Ward Councillor hat on I’m making the case for funding for this.
Blocked Drain Bristol Road
There was a visit by a highways inspector recently and will followup. Any on the ground information and feedback please let me know.
Gullies on Harptree Hill
This was raised at the last meeting. Team are aware of problems with a number of gullies on Harptree Hill and suspect that they have been damaged by a utility. They went out to site towards the end of November undertaking works and will arrange for the all the gullies to be cleaned.
Floodwater down Ridge Lane
This was raised at the last meeting. Watercourse screens on Ridge Lane inspected/cleared ahead of Storm Ciaran. Gullies are on an annual maintenance regime, last done September 2022. While they are in this years works package we have raised a reactive package to have them prioritised.
Gulley outside Bus Stop
This was raised at the last meeting. Awaiting a reply will chase.
Parking on Ridge Lane
I was told about some traffic on the village Facebook Group about vehicles parked on the lane causing issues. This might have been discussed at the last meeting. I would appreciate any local knowledge from WHPC on this. Where there are no restrictions on the highway the possibilities are to a) have informal chats with the neighbours or b) if there is a very serious obstruction issue the Police have responsibility and can be contacted or c) apply to have a stretch of road included in the next annual legal order to mark new double yellow lines. However I’m aware double yellow lines are a sensitive issues in some rural areas as they have a more urban feel. Any feedback appreciated.
Best wishes,
Dave
